This is one of those recipes where I’m just going to come out and say it…”If I can do it. You can do it.”

I’m not a candy maker at heart. So the idea of having to figure out hard crack temperatures, just to land myself in the ER with 3rd degree burns, only to have to clean up after a hard candy mess…well, it was intimidating.

It was so intimidating that even though I’ve gotten 1234987 requests from you guys to make these and share the experience, I put it off for almost a year.

I’ll admit it…I was actually scared at the thought of making Cannabis lollipops.

Crazy, right?

Super crazy…

Because these homemade marijuana lollipops are so quick and easy to make, you will wonder why you’ve never done it before (and if you have made them before, you’ll wonder why you don’t make them more often).

When all was said and done, these organic Cannabis-infused lollipops yielded 20 pretty and delicious infused candies (some were prettier than others), with no burns and no crazy clean up.

I’m going to go ahead and say my first candy making experience was completely painless and made a delicious Cannabis candy that helps me stay pain free. Yeeee!

Homemade Marijuana Lollipops

The key to making Cannabis-infused lollipops is temperature. While this is a very simple edibles recipe that requires only 5 ingredients, it’s not something you can set and forget. You have to be present and keep a close eye on your thermometer throughout the process.

There’s a thing in candy making called “Hard Crack Stage” and it simply means that you have to heat your organic sugar, corn syrup and water up to 300 degrees Fahrenheit before removing it from the heat source. Getting it to this temperature, makes your candy hard. Makes sense, right?

The tricky part with making marijuana-infused lollipops is that you have to let it cool down to about 250 degrees Fahrenheit so you don’t lose out on all of the incredible healing compounds in your Cannabis tincture. This makes it a little messier to deal with since the liquid candy has already cooled and gets a bit sticky around this temperature.

You’ll probably have little hard candy trails all over your molds and counter when all is said and done. The upsideis that you can just wait until it hardens and eat it. I didn’t have any issues with stubborn hard candy that I couldn’t pry off, but you’ll want to make sure that you work on non-stick surfaces. It all popped off and went right into my mouth. Which is a clean up process I can really get behind.

If you’re worried about making a mess, just lay down a sheet of parchment paper underneath your candy or lollipop molds.

You’ll have to make a Cannabis tincture first or use decarboxylated hash (I haven’t tried this yet, but will update this post as soon as I do). Be careful when using an alcohol-based tincture and make sure you are far away from your heat source when stirring it into your candy mixture. Because…Booze + Heat = Fire.

DIY Organic Cannabis Hard Candy

This exact recipe can be used to make Cannabis hard candy.

It’s all in the mold. You can use your gummy bear molds from making Cannabis Gummies, or you can find molds specifically for hard candy making here. I prefer working with silicon since it’s reusable and it’s easy to remove your candy from silicon molds, but player’s choice!

Just follow the steps exactly and skip the sticks 🙂

There are a few things you’re going to need ahead of time to make this recipe:

Disclaimer: This is not intended as medical advice. I’m not a doctor. I’m also not a lawyer and can’t defend you if you get busted trying to make this recipe in a state that still considers possession or cultivation of Cannabis a criminal act. I don’t agree with this law, but I’d never advocate that you break it. Jail would suck. Instead, I strongly advise that you work to change the law in your state or nation by supporting and being active in grassroots organizations that are trying to legalize Cannabis in your area (they’re everywhere). This recipe is heretofore only intended for people who live in states or countries where medical or recreational use of Cannabis is legal, who are 21 and older, of sound mind and who understand that operating heavy machinery (cars, trucks, planes, etc.) under the influence of any intoxicant, including marijuana, is incredibly dangerous, immature, and wholly stupid. Please don’t ever eat and drive. Support public transportation or use the two legs that evolution gave you and walk your sweet ass wherever it is that you need to go.
